If someone is told to enjoy the beauty of rainy season from Bandarban, s/he could definitely think that the proposing person has become crazy! Is it time to go Bandarban! Because there is risk of avalanche in mountain escarp caused by rain, acute malaria can also be seen. But actually, a different beauty of Bandarban is seen in rainy season.

Some of us are living in Dhaka just for job purposes and others are living here traditionally with family but the question is how much we know about Dhaka? Or how much we have travelled inside Dhaka just to know little more about this city? Dhaka’s size is 1000 square kilometres; so, one day is not enough time to get around and know about this city. But we can perhaps make a routine every Friday to get around in Dhaka and experience it’s beauty. Dhaka city has many historical and archaeologically important monuments. These monuments are not very hard to travel to. Let me introduce you with older part of Dhaka city which is known as ‘Puran Dhaka’.

Birth Period of our Dhaka 1608 to 1971

What was the birth period of our loving city Dhaka? According to the rules of nature it is fixed for the animal like the birth period of human baby is about 10 months, but is it applicable for a city? Someone will say, “No”. But I do strongly say “Yes”. But it is not fixed all the time. What Dhaka is today - was born in 1971 as the capital of Bangladesh by getting birth of Bangladesh through a sanguinary war of 9 months. But the conceive period of Dhaka had been started on 1608 when Subedar Islam Khan was appointed as Governor of Bangal and Dhaka was chosen as the capital of Mughal province. Now we see the time line of the birth of being Dhaka as the Capital of an independent Country today (from 1608 to 1971). Among this period City Dhaka has got two backgrounds – one is its Historical/Political background and another one it’s Architectural Background.
